A focused 22-minute excerpt from a 2022 archive workshop. It demonstrates font-file conversion, registering a locally hosted font in a block theme, applying it and checking fallbacks. The retained section is source 15:00–37:03; earlier selection examples and later library screens and Q&A are omitted. It includes configuration code and reflects the 2022 software interface.
Places to begin.
A small exercise.
Step 01
Read a whole paragraph
Choose two openly licensed typefaces. Set the same original paragraph in both and compare letter shapes, line length and reading comfort.
Step 02
Choose the necessary weights
List which weights and styles the page actually needs. Keep each font’s licence and source with the downloaded files.
Step 03
Make a small specimen
Try one face for headings and one for body text. Add a link, a caption and a button so the comparison includes ordinary interface text.
Step 04
Check the delivered page
Confirm that the intended local font loads, the page remains readable while it loads and the fallback has sensible spacing. Keep a note of the tested software version.
Keep a copy.
