Places to begin.

A small exercise.

  1. Step 01

    Two compatible voices

Choose a readable body face and one heading face, or use one family with two weights. Keep a note of each font’s source and licence.

  2. Step 02

    A short type scale

Make a page with a title, two subheadings, a paragraph and a caption. Compare their sizes and line spacing at phone width.

  3. Step 03

    One useful palette

Choose a background, a text colour and an accent. Test the text and button pairs in the contrast tool.

  4. Step 04

    A consistent specimen

Apply the same settings across two practice pages. Change an individual element only when it serves a clear purpose.
