A 2024 guided keyword-research session using an ordinary food website as its example. Work through the worksheet with one small subject of your own. Search tools and their estimates change; use the method to understand readers rather than chase a score.

Places to begin.

A small exercise.

  1. Step 01

    A narrow subject

Choose one useful page you could actually write: caring for a houseplant, preparing a print, or choosing a notebook.

  2. Step 02

    Use ordinary language

Write five questions a reader might ask. Put the clearest answer beside each question before looking at any search estimates.

  3. Step 03

    Make a small comparison

Compare relevance, effort and likely demand for the five ideas. Record where an estimate came from and avoid treating it as an exact count.

  4. Step 04

    Keep one useful draft

Choose the question you can answer well. Draft a short page with a clear heading and a concrete next step.

Keep a copy.
