A compact painting session that starts with a silhouette and builds towards a finished character. Try a small study alongside it rather than copying every detail.
Places to begin.
A small exercise.
Step 01
One shape
Draw a simple object as a mid-grey silhouette. Keep the edge clear before adding detail.
Step 02
Two values
Add one lighter and one darker value. Step back until the object reads at thumbnail size.
Step 03
A colour pass
Try two warm colours and two cool colours on a separate layer. Keep the underlying light and shadow visible.
Step 04
Keep an export
Save the editable source, then make a small PNG or JPEG to compare with a later attempt.
Keep a copy.
